Business Meeting Sunday, February 26th
There will be a business meeting Sunday at 5pm at River Club. The main order of business will be a vote for the formal incorporation of Fairview Baptist Church.

Acts of Valor
I wanted to send a direct invitation to each of you with regards to our anticipated event this Friday: showing of the Act of Valor film. (check out the trailer at www.actofvalor.com/official)

Muvico theater in Fredericksburg has opened up their "premier seating" area just for us on opening day and it seats just 106 guys in some really nice lounge chairs.

I'd like to pack each seat out and use it as an outreach event for each of you to ask your friends, coworkers, neighbors and even family who wouldn't normally go to a "Bible study at Bob's house" but wouldn't think twice about going to hang out with a bunch of other guys for a testosterone-packed film.

A number of guys have already pre paid, as I'm willing  to pre purchase tickets to guarantee your seat, because of the limited seating available and I'd hate for guys to show up on the day of the movie only to realize they didn't have a seat.

I know this is short notice, but if you can swing the day off this Friday, 2/24/12, the anticipated start time is "around noon" - the theater can't give me the confirmed time until tomorrow.

If you want to attend and can't meet up with me before hand, send me an email with the number of tickets you want to "reserve".

I look forward to seeing each of you on Friday. Feel free to call me with any questions.

Some Personal Thoughts

deeThis coming Sunday, February 26, will be a significant day for Fairview Baptist because we will have a church business meeting at 5:00 p.m. in which we will allow a congregational vote on the formal incorporation of Fairview Baptist Church. Various leadership teams at Fairview have been working on this incorporation process for over a year. In the past few years the state of Virginia has decided to allow churches to become incorporated. Virginia was only one of two states in the country that had not allowed this to happen.

Formal incorporation will not really interfere with the current operation of the church. However, it will mean that we will have a Board of Directors which serves as the “official body.” This Board of Directors will serve in a very similar capacity to the trustees in our current system. This is the group which signs the official legal documents for the church. The positive aspect of incorporation is that no one person or persons will be responsible for any legal actions that may come against the church in the future. So, it will be an important step forward for us. Fairview at Charlotte Street and at River Club will be incorporated as one church with two locations. All members are invited to attend this historic business meeting at 5:00 p.m. at River Club.

The step of faith which was taken by the members of Fairview Baptist a number of years ago to build the River Club facility and to begin a multi-site church is already providing rich spiritual dividends. Both sites are growing and developing at a healthy rate. Whereas attendance at Fairview was about 350 people before River Club was launched, now the joint attendance of both sites approaches the 1000 mark each Sunday morning. God is bringing new people to each site almost every week. The potential for future growth is awesome. There is no doubt that God is blessing the faithfulness and courage of the Fairview folks.

Rejoicing in HIM,
Dee
