Doulos, Current Sermon Series
This coming Sunday, May 26th, we will conclude our message series entitled “Doulos.” This is the Greek word for “slave” and it is often translated as “servant.” One of the primary characteristics of a Christian in the New Testament is servanthood. During the past few weeks, we have probed this theme and passed along some very practical applications.
Let's Celebrate Together
Sunday, April 21, is a day that River Club will remember for a long, long time. 80+ families picked up an envelope containing a $100 bill for them to use as seed money in some project that will bring a return investment which will be donated to our Children’s Ministry for a major renovation project. We want to create a “wow” environment for our children. That means that River Club invested more than $8,000 in those of you who took an envelope on that Sunday. Please keep us posted concerning your project! This coming Sunday we will have some envelopes available in the foyer, each containing a $100 bill for anyone willing to invest these funds into God’s Kingdom. “Let’s Celebrate Together” is a refrain from the parable of the talents whenever one of the servants returned with the proceeds from the investment he had made with his master’s resources.
Dropping Off Funds Received
Once your project is finished, or as you are receiving funds from your project, you can bring the money to the church each Sunday morning. There will be a collection table that will be manned by either Sheri Gay or Marcia Sullivan. Marcie will also be around to answer questions or give advise on project ideas. We want to make sure your project gets the credit so we can specifically celebrate your successes. Please place your funds in an envelope with your name on it. Each Sunday until July 31st someone will be at this table to receive the monies you have made.
Celebrating Your Project
Every project will have a story to share. We want to share each story and celebrate as a body the testimonies that come from this exciting marker in Fairview’s church-life. Please send Marcie your stories so that she can post them on facebook, in the church worship guide, and/or announce from the stage. This is so exciting!
Some Personal Thoughts

This past Sunday we had a great 5th Anniversary celebration! It was so good to see some of the folks who were so helpful to us in our launch five years ago. Also, many thanks to the Charlotte Street members who participated with us on this very special occasion. It was great to hear the miracle of River Club again from Bob Sizemore, and it was wonderful to close out the service by being reminded of the changed lives and baptisms that have taken place at River Club during these past five years. Many thanks to all of you who made this very special occasion happen...and many thanks to all of you who made River Club happen!
Now, it is time for us to focus our attention completely on the future. Our primary mission will continue to be impacting the Fredericksburg area with the love of Jesus, one person at a time. We want to live out our motto: “loving God, loving people.” We will continue our partnership with community organizations, and our primary focus for the next few years will be our children’s ministry. Through our Let’s Celebrate Together emphasis we hope to create an awesome experience for children by enhancing our facility. This will provide us with a great opportunity to reach many of the 7100 children who live within a fifteen minute drive of River Club and have no religious affiliation. Also, we will continue our strong focus on our student ministry. Who knows what God has in store for us in the next five years? I am excited about the potential God has provided River Club!
Rejoicing in HIM,

Right Now Media June Feature
Andy Stanley's "Faith, Hope and Luck"
If you have not explored our Right Now Media resource yet, you are missing out. This is a tremendous web-based media library that has thousands of curriculum for you to choose from. Think of it as NetFlix for Christian education. Our feature curriculum for June is "Faith, Hope and Luck" by Andy Stanley. Our faith in God often hinges on his activity—or inactivity—in our daily experiences. When our prayers are answered, our faith soars. When God is silent, it becomes harder to trust him. When God shows up in an unmistakable way, our confidence in Him reaches new heights. But when he doesn't come through, our confidence often wanes. But it doesn't have to be that way—it's not supposed to be that way.
If you haven't signed up for Right Now Media yet, just check the box on your Connection Card on Sunday and we will send you an invitation to join, or email Steve Mudre.
